Dixon Place and Puppet Blok present
* A Chance Shadow /By Double Image Theater Lab *

A Chance Shadow is a poetic play inspired by the Chinese poet Xu Zhimo (1897~1931) and the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca (1898~1936). Xu was one of the first Chinese writers to successfully naturalize Western romantic forms into modern Chinese poetry and Lorca was a social activist who changed the world around him though his unique style of surrealism and theatricality. With their passion for literature, social reform and true love, they changed society.
By using the elements of Shadow Theater, Toy Theater, Object Theater and pop-up art, the show brings the audience into the poets’ romantic and historical worlds.

A Chance Shadow has been in development since 2009 and has appeared at the New York Voice 4 Vision Puppet Festival(2009), International Poppentheater Festival Dordrecht, Holland (2010), International Festival of Puppet Theater Jerusalem (2011), Puppet Blok, Dixon Place, New York (2011), The BRIDGE Progressive Arts Initiative Charlottesville, Va (2011), Puppetry at the Carriage House, New York (2012), and Close To You Puppet Festival Taipei, Taiwan (2012).

Hey You Acting Manitou Folks,

Hope you're all doing way way well. I've got two things:
Firstly, I wanted to cordially invite you all to a one-act festival I'm currently designing at the Medicine Show Theater with the F*It Club. Lots of super talented people and way great new work to see. Six one-acts all worth coming out for. It happens beginning of April for two weeks. Check the promobumps below.
I'm also extending some feelers out to you all for some big help in obtaining a number of furniture pieces I'm looking for on the way cheap. I have a list and am generally just looking for leads on items SUCH AS:
A twin size bedframe & mattress (foam/air/cushion)
Twin size wooden headboard (and a footboard would be great as well)
2 Wooden matching nightstands
Twin size Cream/Older Vintage feminine sheets
Older Americana Quilt -This and the twin size fabrics should be more amish looking/homemade looking (plaid, quilted, herringboned)
A Royal looking Bed Canopy Sheet/Strips of Fabric
Full size Royal-looking blue/coral/peach sheets, comforter and pillow cases. (Fluffy fabric works TOTALLY fine. I can make that work)
Used/Worn looking midcentury desk (Mad Men or earlier)
Wooden Dresser
It's pretty ambiguous but Im staying pretty open as my budget is without a doubt tiny (Can not rent) so Im looking to borrow for the tech and then two week run of the fest and then I'd return it all. If you have or know of somebody who might have or see anything like this I would be BEYOND grateful for the lead. I'm not looking to modify anything, just borrow. I'll make sure you get a big thanks and see if I could get you in on a comp/discount situation.
(THANKS) and I hope to see you all very soon!
-Sky

News from Erik!!

Break Legs!!

Hey AM-ers. My school is about to open "Guys and Dolls", so if any of you happen to be in the wonderful town of Atlanta, Georgia, you should totally swing by and see it. It's hilarious, touching, and has musical numbers that will be in your head for weeks. If you want to consider yourself a true musical theater aficionado, you must see this sometime in your lifetime (it's a classic), and I highly suggest this is the production you see. Showtimes are Friday, March 14th at 4:15; Saturday, March 15th at 2:30 and 7; and Sunday, March 16th at 2:30. After the show I'll treat you to the southern delight that is Waffle House. Thanks so much and I hope everyone is well!"
